What is it?
Powderkeg presents: A Film Festival is a film festival held semiannually celebrating local Houston short filmmakers and production companies.
How does it work?
Submit your short film(s) (up to 10 minutes) to Powderkeg Productions by the current posted deadline. Filmmakers/productions companies can submit films they've sent to other festivals and contests. Any and all films are welcome! See rules and guidelines on the submission page.
All filmmakers are welcome to join an audience talkback onstage directly after the screening. Wear your red carpet best!
All filmmakers, friends, and family are welcome and encouraged to attend. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
Why should I submit?
First of all, it's fun.
Second of all, having an event and a deadline to work towards is an incredible motivator to tackle and complete an intense project like creating a film.
Third of all, you have the opportunity to see your hard work on the big screen at Station Theater in front of a live audience--audience reaction and feedback is invaluable to your development as a filmmaker, because the point of making films is to show them to an audience. So...show them to an audience!
Fourth of all, you get to brag and put on your resume/CV that your film was an official festival selection.
Fifth of all, you get to meet other local filmmakers and network--film can only be done in a community. Get in on the community!
Sixth of all, it's fun.
Seventh of all, you get to dress up.
Eighth of all, it's fun. Your soul is asking you to make a film and submit. Don't let your soul down.
